Here we go!

Hello world!

Today marks the first day of my blogging journey and I'm feeling awesome scared out of my mind!

                                                                              { via }

With a lot of encouragement from my family and friends, I have decided to start this little slice of blog land to share my passion for all things beautiful, gold, and shiny...ok not everything has to be gold and shiny. I love to create spaces that are not only functional but also fantastically fancy. My hope is to inspire you to create your own beautiful spaces without spending a fortune. I'll share DIY tips and tricks, favorite places to shop, inspiration rooms, and so much more! Do I splurge on some things? sure! Sometimes there are just a pair of Anthropologie curtains you can't say no to.
Do I save money by DIY'ing? of course! IKEA is the mecca for all things inexpensive when you want a glam look without the price tag. There's nothing a little gold spray paint can't do.

First let me start with the things I'm not...
Just keeping it real.

I'm not technologically savvy by any means.  My extent of knowledge in graphic design type programs begins and ends with Microsoft PowerPoint...and even that is limited! So, please bare with me as I try to navigate this new world to make this blog as beautiful as I want our home to be. The fact that I was able to screen shot a web page to make the above graphics is a legitimate miracle.

I'm not a professional photographer. Like, not even close. I received a used canon rebel xt for Christmas to get my feet wet so to speak in the photography world. While the iphone takes amazing pictures, I wanted to step up my game for you all. I'm sure we've all seen amazing home decor pictures on Pinterest and other blogs and surely behind that is an amazing bajillion dollar camera, which of course I don't have, but I'll do my darndest to learn the camera I do have!

                                                                           { via }

I'm not a professional interior designer. Although, that sounds like a super fun job! In fact, I'm a Labor and Delivery Nurse...so think scrubs, sweet little babies, and the miracle that is birth. I've been scouring home decor magazines and the virtual pages of Better Homes and Garden's website long before Pinterest came to be. But Pinterest really up'd the game and led to me find some great blogs that have been such an inspiration! I spend hours putting together mood boards for family and friends to help them create a space that incorporates their own personal style and a touch of my own.

I'm not perfect and neither is my house. When we see these perfectly staged homes in the pages of HGTV or through various blogs, it's easy to get caught up in thinking that's reality...and maybe for some people it is! I am definitely not one of them. At any given minute you will see dishes piled up in the sink, unmade beds, and laundry begging to be put away. Because we always have a million projects we're working on, you can certainly find step ladders, saw dust, and tools lying all over the house. I am a wife and working mom to two very busy kids and a bed that calls my name more than I like. So, while you may see me post the "perfect" picture of a finished room, keep in mind that behind me and the lens is probably a pile of clothes I'm currently standing on.

So now that we got all that out of the way, let's ride this blog train! I'm excited to see where this goes and I hope you'll join me along the way. Thank you for all your support and encouragement! Please sign up on my homepage to receive emails when I post something new!
